A globális és a regionális folyamatok politikai hatása

A tanulmány áttekinti napjaink legfontosabb nemzetközi tendenciáit. A legkorszerűbb szakirodalom alapján - illetve azzal polemizálva - mutatja be, hogy a világon megjelent az egységesülés, vagyis az együttműködés fokozódó szükséglete a gazdaság és a politika területén, amely számos tekintetben követhető. A folyamat a legújabb korban a globális tőke megjelenésével vált megragadhatóvá, ezt követte a globális léptékű nemzetközi szervezet megalakítása és a regionális integráció. A szerző bemutatja, hogy a globalizáció fogalma több folyamatot fed, amelynek rövid történetét is áttekinti. Ezt követően a globális kultúra lehetőségeit vizsgálja. Ebben az összefüggésben idézi egyebek között Immanuel Wallersteinnek a világrendszer problematikájával foglalkozó munkásságát, az USA, az EU, Japán, illetve Kína mint nagy régiók szerepét. Foglalkozik a nacionalizmus jelenségével, a nemzetállam és a nemzeti szuverenitás kérdéseivel. Igen nagy teret szentel Samuel P. Huntington sok vitát kiváltott munkásságának és azt az újabb folyamatokkal alátámasztva cáfolja. Részben Huntington nyomán boncolja a különböző civilizációk között meglévő, vagy lehetséges konfliktusokat. Ráirányítja a figyelmet Kína változó és növekvő globális jelentőségére. Végül foglakozik a multikulturalizmus jelenségével, az EU-val, különösen pedig a NATO-hoz fűződő viszonyával, más regionális szervezetekkel, illetve az azokon belüli konfliktusokkal. Végül foglalkozik az EU-val, amelyben még nem teremtődött meg az az alkotmányos rend, amely kormányozhatná a tagállamok politikai és gazdasági tevékenységét.
