A simple and sensitive method is reported for separation, detection, and simultaneous analysis of three-carbamate pesticides, carbaryl, propoxur, and carbosulfan. The method is based on reaction of the pesticides with p -aminoacetanilide in alkaline medium to form red, yellow, and orange-red rings on a silica gel plate. Quantitative analysis was achieved by visual comparison of color intensity by a spectrophotometric method. Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration ranges 0.04–0.36, 0.032–0.32, and 0.08–0.64 μg mL −1 for carbaryl, propoxur, and carbosulfan, respectively. The effects of foreign species and analytical conditions on the method were evaluated. The procedure was applied to real samples, for example deliberately contaminated vegetables, soil, food, water, etc., and overall recovery of approximately 95% was achieved.
