Absztrakt

Egyre több, az eseményhez kötött potenciálok (EKP) módszerét alkalmazó kísérlet eredménye utal arra, hogy a vizuális ingerlés szabályszerűségeinek megsértését akkor is regisztrálja az információfeldolgozó rendszer, ha (1) az eseményeknek nincs szerepük a viselkedés szervezésében vagy egyéb szempontból sem fontosak, és (2) a vizsgálatok résztvevői nincsenek tudatában az ingerlés változásainak. Az ilyen esetben regisztrálható EKP összetevő hasonló a hallás területéről jól ismert eltérési negativitáshoz (EN). Vizuális eltérési negativitás (vEN) nem csupán eltérő vizuális tulajdonságok esetén jelenik meg. Regisztrálható sajátságok szabálytalan együttese esetén, és akkor is, amikor ingerek együttese szekvenciális szabályt sért meg. VEN jellegű aktivitás kísérhet vizuális változásokat akkor is, amikor szigorúan ellenőrzik, hogy a vizsgálat résztvevője nem volt a változások tudatában. Az eredmények ellentmondanak annak a nézetnek, amely szerint (1) perceptuális objektumok létrejöttéhez figyelmi folyamatokra van szükség, (2) a vizuális rendszer nem működtet nagy kapacitású emlékezeti rendszert. Következtetésünk szerint a vEN eredmények olyan emlékezeti rendszerre utalnak, amely eltér a passzív tárolóként feltételezett ikonikus emlékezettől, és egy „primitív intelligencia” része.
