Tanulmányunkban az Averill és Thomas-Knowles (1991) által kidolgozott Érzelmi Kreativitás Index (ECI) hazai adaptációját mutatjuk be. Az érzelmi kreativitás koncepciója számos oknál fogva jelentős: kitágította az empirikus kreativitáskutatás fókuszát, közelebb hozta egymáshoz az akadémiai és személyiségpszichológiai paradigmákat, és gyakorlati jelentősége is van; az érzelmi kreativitás magas szintje fordítottan korrelál az alexitímiával, ami számos klinikai jelenség rizikótényezője. Az Érzelmi Kreativitás Index egy 30 itemes önkitöltős skála, Averill és Thomas-Knowles a konstrukció szerkezetének és az egyéni különbségeknek a felmérése céljából alakította ki. Három alskálát tartalmaz: érzelmi készültség, újdonság és hatékonyság/autentikusság. Jelenlegi kutatásunk célja az volt, hogy megteremtsünk egy érvényes és megbízható magyar változatot az érzelmi kreativitás mérésére James Averill munkái alapján és az ő személyes engedélyével. A tesztet három vizsgálatban alkalmaztuk. Az elsőben 905 személy (561 nő és 344 férfi) vett részt, amely alapján felülvizsgáltuk az eredeti faktorstruktúrát. Az eredmények és a konfirmációs faktoranalízis egyaránt megerősítették a háromfaktoros struktúrát, a skálák megfelelő belső konzisztenciát mutattak. Második vizsgálatunkban négy pszichológiai skálát alkalmaztunk (IRI, CISS 48, Tóth-féle Kreativitás Skála, Kreatív Tevékenység Kérdőív) a konvergens és divergens validitás megállapítására. Az eredmények kapcsolatai igazolták a három konstrukció érvényességét. A harmadik vizsgálatban a vonások időbeli stabilitását néztük meg teszt-reteszt módszerrel. Ezen vizsgálatok eredményei alapján elmondhatjuk, hogy a lefordított, adaptált, lerövidített kérdőív pszichometriai jellemzői megfelelőek, és megbízhatóan méri a nevezett pszichológiai konstruktumokat.
