Abstract  

The removal of contaminated high temperature grown magnetite on carbon steel in buffered HCl-disodium citrate solutions has been studied. Decontamination factors higher than 200 concomitantly with a dissolution of metal substrate lower than 1 m after 1 hour treatment have been obtained.
