Abstract

Varying levels of reactor physics support is given to the isotope production industry. As the pressures on both the safety limits and economical production of reactor produced isotopes mount, reactor physics calculational support is playing an ever increasing role. Detailed modelling of the reactor, irradiation rigs and target material enables isotope production in reactors to be maximised with respect to yields and quality. This paper describes NECSA's methodology in this field and gives some examples.
