Abstract

Upper bounds are given to the number of primes or almost primes in a given integer sequence satisfying very general conditions. For some well-known problems, e.g. Goldbach's Problem and the Prime Twins Problem, the upper bounds we get coincide with the long expected and presumablely correct order.
