A szerzők ismertetik a transztelefonos EKG-rendszer alapelveit és ennek alkalmazási lehetőségeit a kardiológiai klinikai gyakorlatban. A rendszer alapeleme a kisméretű felvevőegység, melynek révén tetszés szerinti telefonrendszeren keresztül lehet a jelet a fogadó- és irányítóközpontba küldeni.
