A diabetes mellitus szövődményei között jelentős gyakorisággal számolnunk kell a tápcsatornai funkciók, a tápcsatornai motilitás károsodásával. A folyamat sajátossága, hogy a motilitási zavar eltérő mértékű lehet a tápcsatorna egyes szakaszaiban, s a motilitás igazolt károsodása esetén is az esetek egy részében a tünetek enyhék, szegényesek. Ha a tünetek között a hasmenés, a székletinkontinencia szerepel, vagy a cukorbetegség nehezen kezelhető, instabil, egészen biztos, hogy már előrehaladott, súlyos fokú gyomor- és bélrendszeri motilitási zavar alakult ki. A klinikai jellemzők, a patogenezis részletes elemzése mellett a gyakorlat számára javasolt diagnosztikus lépéseket és kezelési ajánlásokat ismerteti a közlemény. Orv. Hetil., 2012, 153, 607–614.
