Though pap smear abnormality has been documented in female patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the recent past, looking into the interrelation between them has been started nowadays by clinicians. The underlying pathophysiology of abnormal pap smear in IBD is still questionable, but there are evidences for and against the proposed hypothesis on the “effect of immunosuppressive therapy” used in IBD. Hence, there are studies coming up by stressing the need of routine pap smear screening protocol in female patients with inflammatory bowel disease. We had a case of inflammatory bowel disease associated with carcinoma of cervix, to move further towards its possible relation.
