Abstract

The study has tried to look at the political transition through the articles published by Spanish scientists in Spanish journals of Social Sciences and Humanities. A sample of 11000 article references from a selected set of 32 journals published from 1976 till 1985, has been the basis of the analysis. This time frame has been divided into two 5 year periods in order to detect any change in the topics published. The result of the analysis has been compared with the events as recorded by El Pais a very popular newspaper, during the same 10 year period and with a set of specific articles devoted to the Spanish political transition.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to describe Spanish universities by means of structural, input and output indicators, to explore the relationship between those indicators and to analyse university behaviour in different dimensions. Seniority of the universities and environmental conditions are taken into account, together with input and output indicators, as well as others related to the networks and links established. Our results will contribute to the knowledge of the university research system in Spain, producing data that could be useful for research management at the institutional, regional and national level.

Abstract

Due to an accidental release of transuranics at Palomares, Almeria (Spain), an area of 2.3 km2 was contaminated (1,2,3). With the objective of studying the possible transfer of the transuranic from land to sea (4), a sampling network for marine sediments and sea water was established between Cape Palos and Cape Gata. Concentrations of plutonium, americium and radiocesium were determined in sediment cores taken from the sea shelf surrounding Palomares. The depositional history of sediments was elucidated using the unsupported210Pb method. An increase in transuranic concentrations was observed off the southern coast of Palomares, the sources of which are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

Educational research systems as the Spanish one can be studied using scientometric tools. Here 41 secondary-bibliometric studies are synthesized in a tertiary study, which could illuminate the nature of this research system, revealing at the same time its underlying framework. A clustering procedure reveals how this system has been scientometrically approached through the time.
