Non (strict) monotony
The increase/decrease in number of citations of a paper is not necessarily associated to a corresponding increase/decrease of h (aggregated indicator), which is weakly monotonic. Regarding the success -index

There is a formula for the interior of a set in a generalized topology composed of the γ-open sets, where γ is a monotonic
map in the power set of X. There are known conditions for a γ assuring that this formula is valid. The paper gives essential generalizations for these
conditions and contains some applications.
Stochastic evolution equations with monotone operators in Banach spaces are considered. The solutions are characterized as minimizers of certain convex functionals. The method of monotonicity is interpreted as a method of constructing minimizers to these functionals, and in this way solutions are constructed via Euler-Galerkin approximations.
Summary Utilizing the good properties of the sequences of rest bounded variation, the usual monotonicity hypothesis on the coefficients of Fourier cosine series given in previous theorems will be weakened in the sense that the sequence of coefficients is of rest bounded variation. The theorems in question reformulate the conditions in some theorems on embedding relations of Besov classes.
towards biology or physics or another natural science, one would expect the monograph/papers style fraction to change over time. Although it may appear in Fig. 4 that this style fraction has a monotonic trend, the hypothesis that the slope is non-zero is
