Abstract

An arbitrary linear relation (multivalued operator) acting from one Hilbert space to another Hilbert space is shown to be the sum of a closable operator and a singular relation whose closure is the Cartesian product of closed subspaces. This decomposition can be seen as an analog of the Lebesgue decomposition of a measure into a regular part and a singular part. The two parts of a relation are characterized metrically and in terms of Stone’s characteristic projection onto the closure of the linear relation.

Abstract

Characterizations of some properties of generalized R 0 and R 1 topological spaces by using closure operator defined on a generalized topological space will be given. It is also shown that many results done in this area in some previous papers can be considered as special cases of our results.

Abstract

Császár introduced the notions of ascending operation, ascending hull of operation and ascending generalized neighborhood system in [2]. In this paper, we introduce the notions of interior and closure operators and (ϕ,ϕ′)-continuity on ascending generalized neighborhood systems. We characterize some properties of such notions in terms of convergence of p-stacks.

The purpose of the present note is to give a number of characterizations of theR 1-axiom and to show that theR 1-axiom is equivalent to the weakly Hausdorff axiom introduced byB. Banaschewski andJ. M. Maranda [2]. In anR 1-space it is shown that the locally compactness property is also open hereditary and that the closure of an almost compact set is the union of the closures of its points. A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained under which a locally compact set dense in anR 1-space is open. Finally a variant of a well-known theorem regarding two continuous functions of a topological space into aT 2-space is formulated forR 1-spaces.

Previous research describes social structure in which employees are embedded as one of the important determinants of intra-organizational career expectations. There are two contradictory arguments in the literature, however. First, social closure of informal relations is supposed to strengthen the intentions of staying. Second, the efficiency and effectivity of the individual social network is assumed to enhance in-house career expectations. This empirical study analyzed data from 44 R&D teams in the Netherlands. Multilevel analysis was used to separate individual and team influences. Results show that the prospects to stay in the R&D team are determined positively by social closure, whereas the expectation to stay in the organization is determined positively by the efficiency and effectivity of individual social networks. The conclusions highlight that different forms of social capital might be important for different types of career perspectives.

Close examination of the arithmetic structure of book composition in Greek novels reveals in various degrees a constant pattern of dichotomy: In the first part of the novels the heroes stray about looking for each other while in the second part they meet for a stationary final scene at the court of a married couple of potentates, involving some kind of judgement. Furthermore, in the second section of the paper the individual technique of book closure adopted by different novelists is analyzed.
