The fragment we are publishing here is preserved in the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage (the former China Institute of Cultural Relics). It is a single leaf of an Uigur manuscript originally attached to a Chinese passage of the Lotus sūtra. The Old Uigur text is a kind of terminology list containing some hitherto not or seldom attested words.

This article aims to describe some of the main terminological problems audiovisual translators have to face when dealing with the translation of science documentaries, specifically in the English-Catalan combination. The first section of the article presents some theoretical concepts which underlie this research and which are taken, for the most part, from Cabré’s Communicative Theory of Terminology. Then, specific terminological problems audiovisual translators have to solve are described using the data provided by a corpus of four science documentaries lasting approximately 50 minutes each. These challenges include identifying a term, understanding a term, finding the right equivalent, dealing with the absence of an adequate equivalent, solving denominative variations, choosing between in vivo and in vitro terminology, and overcoming mistranscriptions.
Summary
The paper aims to present a summary of my studies with music tempo designations. Instructions by composers can be found on the pages of the sheet music. In order to interpret contemporary pieces we may turn to the living composer(s), but in the case of older pieces of art such an option is not available. In these cases, beside the music sheet, we may turn to notes, letters, diary pieces for help, but still the signs around the staves are determinative. Out of the music instructions I have chosen and examined tempo designations. I have set up a terminological system in which I placed first the terms for retardation, then the terms for acceleration, and finally the ones for steady tempo. I collected the expressions from the most important music dictionaries and lexicons available in Hungary. The created system proved to be reliable and sufficient for all three groups, although some sub-sections remained empty – which underpins the significance of such a terminological system and my research.

Abstract
We investigate the cost-effectiveness of special-purpose crawled corpora versus more focused corpora for automatic terminology extraction (ATE). Our focus is on medical terminology on heart failure for two languages, viz. English for which we have more web and specialized resources at our disposal and the less resourced Dutch. We show that, although term density in the dedicated corpora is larger for both languages, the potential for term extraction is higher in the crawled corpora than in the dedicated corpora. Furthermore, in a set of experiments in which we evaluate both types of corpora, while keeping size constant, we observe that more Gold Standard (GS) terms are covered by the “noisy” crawled corpus than with a dedicated corpus of the same size.
