Abstract

Information-based modeling technology is supported by advanced information technology solutions in the building industry. The integration of its methodology into construction and design processes is already going on. However, many areas still have development possibilities; for instance, building surveys belong to these fields. Countless survey tools and methodologies endeavor to support and ease the work of professionals in design and construction, yet there is a need for comprehensive collaboration. This could be promoted by creating a direct link between survey tools and architectural design software.

This article demonstrates a tool under development that intends to provide a solution to this issue.

Generally, engineering projects are getting bigger and bigger and more complex to handle. Due to the developments of information technology, managers have the opportunity to plan the execution of their projects and calculate the critical paths of those projects precisely, regardless of the types and sizes of their projects. However, these indicators are not realistic; in many cases the predetermined partial-deadlines cannot be kept, therefore the end of the project must be postponed. The aim of the research is to modify the inputs of the critical path method with the application of fuzzy values. The use of fuzzy values in business planning can support project managers in building the uncertainty factor into their model.

Orv. Hetil., 2013, 154, 403–408.

In this article we rely on the concept of “international new ventures” (INV), and concentrate on the analysis of two research propositions in the case of selected Hungarian INVs, based on company interviews in two selected industries, biotechnology and information technology. First, we analyse the criteria of the selection of foreign markets in the internationalisation of these firms and second, the role of networks in the internationalisation process of selected Hungarian INVs. Our results highlight the typical internationalisation pattern of targeting the largest developed foreign markets globally. In terms of the role of networks in internationalisation, we found evidence of the decisive role of networks in all cases examined. The personal network of the founder(s) was emphasised, especially in winning early clients. The scalability of the personal network-based business model was, however, questioned. The management implications of our findings suggest Hungarian INVs need to intensify their involvement in international communities supporting the growth of such companies. Areas for potential future research include comparing our findings with empirical results from other countries in Central-Eastern Europe.

In Hungary, there is an active practice for inspecting crimes committed in information technology environments as well as crimes affecting intellectual property as the two areas often overlap. Recently a criminal infringement of copyright occurred in a very special environment — the virtual world of Second Life. In this paper, the questions raised by the above-mentioned case from a legal and IT forensic perspective will be present along with the recommended answers from the authors.

The first half of the paper will present the specialties of virtual world environments and how the criminal investigation was started. General criminal procedure norms governing IT forensics will be discussed. The question of how copyright law protects avatars or virtual items in Second Life and how the financial value of a virtual item can be determined will be answered. The remainder of the paper will present, in detail, the IT forensic examination of the concrete criminal case where illegal copies of avatars appeared in Second Life. The question regarding how digital evidences can be obtained from simulated virtual environments from a legal and IT forensic perspective will be discussed in details.

The paper was written in order to stimulate interest in the special field of relationship between IT forensics, criminal law and virtual worlds because there are hardly any articles dealing with the aforementioned problem in scientific literature.

Ismertetik továbbá döntési hálózattá történő kiterjesztésüket, amely a biomarkerek mind strukturális, mind kvantitatív jellegű optimalizálását is biztosítják a klinikai döntéshozatalban való alkalmazáshoz.
