Maximal clique enumeration and maximum clique generation are well known NP-complete discrete optimization problems. Researchers experiment with parallel implementations of known algorithms in order to speed up the resolution process. Parallel implementations are equivalent to divisions of the feasible region that is an implicit decomposition of the original problem. The below study looks for the possible ways of explicit decomposition, which can subsequently serve as bases of parallel algorithms. The paper introduces formally the notion of decomposition, specifies explicit algorithms for different sorts of decomposition, provides and compares decomposition based algorithms for the maximum clique problem.

In recent years there has been increasing research interest in the removal of nitrogen-oxides from exhaust gases using a pulsed corona discharge reactor. The pulsed streamer corona produces energetic electrons that excite, ionize and dissociate gas molecules, and by forming radicals that enhance the gas-phase chemical reactions which reduce the pollutant’s concentration.In this paper a method is presented, where the reaction rates of the electron-molecule collision are determined. The model is based on calculation of the energy of free electrons in the time and space varying field, considering the mean free path and the energy-dependent reaction cross sections of molecules. Knowing the rates, it is possible to solve the reaction kinetic equations, and to get the time-evolution of by-products, and the decomposition ratio of the pollutant gases.

Reconstructing impact forces can improve considerably structural health monitoring as the extent of damage can be better made out. In this work an inverse problem formulation to identify the pressure generated by a non punctual impact is investigated. Considering the case of linear elastic layered composite structures, reconstruction of impact pressure is performed through a finite element model of the structure and impulse response functions between the impact zone and sensors placed at known positions. Assuming that the pressure is uniform, reconstruction is carried out by regularized deconvolution based on generalized singular value decomposition. The infl uence of mesh size, modal truncation and time sampling on the reconstructed pressure is discussed.
