Abstract  

Thermodynamic investigations of Ga-GeSb0.855 section in the ternary system Ga-Ge-Sb, which is of a practical importance in electric-industry, are presented in this paper. Results of a comparative thermodynamic analysis at 1273 K obtained by Oelsen calorimetry and predicting methods - general solution model and Hajra's method are also given.

Abstract  

In this paper, Ga-GeSb0.855 section in the ternary system Ga–Ge–Sb was studied using thermodynamic predicting methods by Muggianu and Toop, while characterization of the chosen alloys was done by DTA, X-ray and SEM-EDX method.

Abstract  

The results of comparative thermodynamic study of GaSb-Sn system are presented in this paper. Calorimetric measurements according to Oelsen's method and EMF measurements with zirconia as solid electrolyte were used for experimental investigation, while Chou's general solution model, Toop, Kohler and Muggianu methods were used for predicting thermodynamic characteristics in this system. Also, phase diagram of this quasibinary system, determined by DTA and optical microscopy, is presented.

Abstract  

We attempted to determine the experimental conditions under which poplar plastocyanin iso-forms PCa and PCb undergo reversible thermal unfolding studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Our results indicate that an exothermic unfolding process exists always in the presence of molecular oxygen. Reversible unfolding and almost perfect two-state transitions were exhibited in the presence of TCEP under anaerobic conditions. This suggests that the second endothermic peak is due to copper-site disulfide dimmers formed during thermal denaturation. The conformational thermal stability of reduced PCbG (25 °C) = 33.9 kJ mol−1) has proven to be higher than that of reduced PCaG(25 °C) = 22.9 kJ mol−1).

Abstract  

An extended U/Pb-assembly was irradiated with an extracted beam of 2.52 GeV deuterons from the Nuclotron accelerator of the Laboratory of High Energies within the JINR in Dubna, Russia. The lay-out of this experiment and first results are reported. The Pb-target (diameter 8.4 cm, length 45.6 cm) is surrounded by a natU-blanket (206.4 kg) and used for transmutation studies of hermetically sealed radioactive samples of 129I, 237Np, 238Pu and 239Pu. Estimates of transmutation rates were obtained as result of measurements of gamma-activities of the samples. Information about the spatial and energy distribution of neutrons in the volume of the lead target and the uranium blanket was obtained with sets of activation threshold detectors (Al, Y and Au) and solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTD). An electronic 3He neutron detector was tested on-line. A comparison of experimental data with theoretical model calculations using the MCNPX program was performed yielding satisfactory results.
