Abstract  

This study used citation analysis method to identify the 40 classics published in the Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology from 1956 to 2007. Yhe year and subject distributions of these classic references reflect the history and the current status of information science.

Abstract

Objective  This paper aimed to examine the reliability of co-citation clustering analysis in representing the research history of subject by comparing the results from co-citation clustering analysis with a review written by authorities. Methods  Firstly, the treatment of traumatic spinal cord injury was chosen as an investigated subject to be retrieved the resource articles and their references were downloaded from Science Citation Index CD-ROM between 1992 and 2002. Then, the highly cited papers were arranged chronologically and clustered with the method of co-citation clustering. After mapping the time line visualization, the history and structure of treatment of spinal cord injury were presented clearly. At last, the results and the review were compared according the time period, and then the recall and the precision were calculated. Results  The recall was 37.5%, and the precision was 54.5%. The research history of traumatic spinal cord injury treatment analyzed by co-citation clustering was nearly consistent with authoritative review, although some clusters had shorter period than which was summarized by professionals. Conclusion  This paper concluded that co-citation clustering analysis was a useful method in representing the research history of subject, especially for the information researchers, who do not have enough professional knowledge. Its demerit of low recall could be offset by combination this method with other analytic techniques.

With the promotion of economic liberalization and internationalization, consumer demands have become complex and diversified. Businesses have to actively promote themselves and bring forth new marketing tactics to attract buying and cope with fierce competition so as to enhance the global competitiveness and implement the idea of sustainable operation. This study aims to investigate the relationship between marketing strategy management, customer relationship management, and perceived value.

Aiming at Suzhou Industrial Park, the executives and employees of the manufacturers are distributed 500 copies of questionnaire for this study, and 367 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 73%. The research results show the significant correlations between 1. marketing strategy management and customer relationship management, 2. customer relationship management and perceived value, and 3. marketing strategy management and perceived value. Aiming at above results, suggestions are proposed to create better organizational performance for a business.

Abstract  

In order to predict extraction equilibria for uranyl nitrate and nitric acid between aqueous and tributyl phosphate (TBP)-hydrocarbon diluent solutions, activity coefficient equations for the three components in the system HNO3-UO2(NO3)2-H2O were derived and the general equation for excess Gibbs energy, proposed by Clegg and Pitzer, simplified. The activity coefficient equations comprise a Debye-Hückel term and a Margules expansion carried out to the four suffix level, where the higher order electrostatic contribution was neglected. The binary parameter was determined from the thermodynamic properties of the two relevant aqueous solutions. The three mixing parameters were obtained by correlating data for the partial pressure of nitric acid over HNO3-UO2(NO3)2-H2O solutions at 298.15 K. By using the mixing parameters, the activity coefficients of the ternary system can be calculated with good accuracy, and the solubility of uranyl nitrate in aqueous nitric acid with concentration up to 14 mol/kg can be satisfactorily predicted.

Abstract  

Thermal behaviour of codeine phosphate and codeine crystallized at the several solvents system was studied by DSC, and then, the kinetic parameters and thermochemical data have been obtained. We have found that codeine phosphate and codeine exist in a number of polymorphic formes which may inflicence the bio-availability.

Using uniform random design optimization and the mathematical model equation we optimized the regeneration tissue culture system of the chilli pepper. An efficient and detailed plant reproducible protocol in vitro has been established using different explants and induction media for three chilli pepper cultivars. The result displayed that the seedlings at the curved hypocotyl stage were the best choice to prepare for explants, the genotype of explants affected shoot buds induction frequency and number of shoot buds per explant, and the cotyledon explant was more responsive than hypocotyl explant. The optimal media for maximum shoot initiation and regeneration and the optimal elongation medium were obtained. For Capsicum annuum var. annuum (cv. Xinsu), Capsicum annuum var. annuum (cv. Neimengchifeng) and Capsicum frutescens (cv. Xingfu), the induction rates were 99.17%, 97.50 and 96.11%, respectively; the elongation rates of shoot buds were 86.67%, 85.19% and 82.96%, respectively. The MS medium with 0.57 μM IAA and 0.69 μM NAA is the best choice for root induction. The frequency of their root emergence was 95.00–98.33%. Regenerated chilli peppers were successfully acclimatized and cultivated with 100% survival. This work will help to improve multiplication process and the genotype of chilli pepper, and may have commercial impact.

Abstract  

In order to obtain the exact information of atomic number density in the ternary system of HNO3−UO2(NO3)2−H2O, the densities were measured with an Anton-Paar DMA60/602 digital density meter thermostated at 298.15±0.01 K. The apparent molal volumes for the systems were calculated from the experimental data. The present measured apparent molar volumes have been fitted to the Pitzer ion-interaction model, which provides an adequate representation of the experimental data for mixed aqueous electrolyte solutions up to 6.2 mol/kg ionic strength. This fit yields θV, and ψV, which are the first derivatives with respect to pressure of the mixing interaction parameters for the excess free energy. With the mixing parameters θV, and ψV, the densities and apparent molar volumes of the ternary system studied in this work can be calculated with good accuracy, as shown by the standard deviations.

Abstract

The correlation between GDP and research publications is an important issue in scientometrics. This article provides further empirical evidence connecting revealed comparative advantage in national research with effects on economic productivity. Using quantitative time series analysis, this study attempts to determine the nature of causal relationships between research output and economic productivity. One empirical result is that there is mutual causality between research and economic growth in Asia, whereas in Western countries the causality is much less clear. The results may be of use to underdeveloped nations deciding how to direct their academic investment and industry policy.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been widely used in many countries for thousands of years and played an indispensable role in the prevention and treatment of diseases, especially the complicated and chronic ones. However, the application of TCM in diseases is still not fully recognized by people around the world, the main reason is that Chinese herb is a very complex mixture containing hundreds of different components. Thus, it is essential to make quality control and evaluation of TCM. A new quality evaluation method, quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker (QAMS), was developed to the quality control of alkaloids in TCM, a case study on Radix aconiti lateralis, named Fuzi in Chinese. Six alkaloids, including aconitine, hypaconitine, mesaconitine, benzoylaconine, benzoylmesaconine, and benzoylhypaconine, were selected as main components to evaluate the quality of Radix aconiti lateralis. The feasibility and accuracy of QAMS were checked by the external standard method, and various high-performance liquid chromatographic instruments and chromatographic conditions were investigated to verify its applicability. Using aconitine as the internal reference substance and the content of aconitine was calculated according to relative correction factors by high-performance liquid chromatography. The present results showed that there was no significant difference observed between the QAMS method and the external standard method with the relative average deviations less than 3.0%, and QAMS is an effective way to control the quality of herbal medicines and seems to be a convenient and accurate approach to analyze multi-composition when reference substances are unavailable.
