Solvent extraction of uranyl nitrate in nitric acid medium with the binary system of DMHMP and DOSO has been investigated. It was found that synergistic effect occurs during the extraction of uranyl nitrate with benzene solution of DMHMP and DOSO, the binary species extracted UO2 (NO3)2·DMHMP·DOSO has been confirmed. From the data the equilibrium constants have been determined.
Rice straw represents a significant energy source for ruminant animals, and fibers and lignin contents of rice straw are negatively related to intake potential of forages. For improvement of the digestibility of rice straw, it is necessary to understand the genetic basis of the related traits. In present study, mapping of quantitative trait loci (QTL) for acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent lignin (ADL) was carried out using a doubled haploid (DH) population derived from a cross between
variety Zai-Ye-Qing 8 (ZYQ8) and
variety Jing-Xi 17 (JX17). The results indicated that all three parameters were continuously distributed among the DH lines, but many DH lines showed transgressive segregation for all the three traits. A total of three main-effect QTLs were identified for ADF and ADL, two of which, qADF-9 and qADL-9, shared the same region on chromosome 9. These two main-effect QTLs explained more than 20% of the total phenotypic variations, whereas the other QTL, qADF-5, explained 12.8% of the total phenotypic variation for ADF. In addition, another two epistatic QTLs, qADF-2 and qADF-3 could explain 17.6% of the total variations. Thus, we concluded that both main-effects and epistatic QTLs were important in controlling the genetic basis of ADF.
In this paper the dependence of build-up233U,232U,233Pa and fission products from ThO2 irradiated in HFETR on integral thermal neutron fluxes and neutron spectra have been investigated. The yields of all above nuclides in ThO2 increase with the increase of integral thermal neutron fluxes at different neutron spectra. The values of233U/232Th increase with the increases of
th and decreases with the increase of fast/thermal neutron ratios (
th). The values of232U/233U increase with the increase of both
th ratio. The amount of fission products relative to original irradiated thorium decreases with the increase of
th ratios. These results could be used to evaluate the behaviour of thorium-based nuclear fuel in reactor.

This study was designed to test the hypothesis that a medium-term simulated microgravity by tail-suspension (SUS) induces hypertrophic and atrophic changes in the common carotid artery and abdominal aorta with their innermost smooth muscle (SM) layers being most profoundly affected. The second purpose was to elucidate whether vascular local renin-angiotensin system (L-RAS) plays an important role in the differential remodeling of the two kinds of large arteries by examining the gene and protein expression of angiotensinogen (A
) and angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1R) and their localization in the vessel wall. The results showed that SUS induced an increase in the media thickness of the common carotid artery due to hypertrophy of the four SM layers and a decrease in the total cross-sectional area of the nine SM layers of the abdominal aorta without significant change in its media thickness. Irrespective of the nature of remodeling, the most prominent changes were in the innermost layers. Immunohistochemistry,
hybridization, Western blot, and real time quantitative PCR analysis revealed that SUS induced an up- and down-regulation in A
and AT1R expression in the common carotid artery and abdominal aorta, respectively. In conclusion, our findings have demonstrated some special features in the structural adaptation of large elastic arteries due to a medium-term simulated microgravity.

This paper reports on the qualitative and quantitative analyses of light hydrocarbons produced by radiation degradation of
N,N-diethylhydroxylamine. The results show that when the absorbed doses are between 10 and 1000 kGy, the main light hydrocarbons
are methane, ethane, ethene, propane and n-butane. Their volume fractions are increased with the increase of the dose. The
volume fraction of ethene is also increased at low doses with the increase of the dose, but it is decreased with the increase
of dose at high doses.

Uniformity in the height of main stem and tillers is a key factor affecting ideal plant type, a key component in super high-yielding rice breeding. An understanding of the genetic basis of the panicle layer uniformity may thus contribute to breeding varieties with good plant type and high yield. In the present study, a doubled haploid (DH) population, derived from a cross between
rice variety Zhai-Ye-Qing 8 (ZYQ8) and
rice variety Jing-Xi 17 (JX17) was used to analyze quantitative trait loci (QTL) for panicle layer uniformity related traits. Six, four and three QTL were detected for the highest panicle height (HPH), lowest panicle height (LPH) and panicle layer dis-uniformity (PLD), respectively. qHPH-1-1 and qPLD-1 were located at the same interval on chromosome 1. The JX17 allele(s) of these QTL increased HPH and PLD by 2.57 and 1.26 cm, respectively. Similarly, qPLD-7 and qHPH-7 were located at the same interval on chromosome 7, where the ZYQ8 allele(s) increased HPH and PLD by 3.74 and 1.96 cm, respectively. These four QTL were unfavourable for panicle layer uniformity improvement because a decrease of the PLD was accompanied by decrease of the plant height. qPLD-6 and qLPH-6-1 were located at the same interval on chromosome 6, however here the JX17 allele(s) increased LPH, but decreased PLD, suggesting that this QTL was favourable for improvement of panicle layer uniformity. The markers identified in this study are potential for marker assisted breeding for the improvement of the panicle layer uniformity and ideal plant type.

The acidity of mesoporous materials FeSiMCM-41, LaSiMCM-41, SiMCM-41, AlSiMCM-41 and HAlSiMCM-41 has been investigated by microcalorimetric studies of the adsorption of ammonia and temperature programmed ammonia desorption method. In the initial stage, the acid strength sequence is SiMCM-41>HAlSiMCM-41>AlSiMCM-41>FeSiMCM-41>LaSiMCM-41, in agreement with that found for microporous molecular sieves materials. A small number of strong acid sites of SiMCM-41 may result from the aluminum impurity contained in the silica source material. The acid density sequence is HAlSiMCM-41>AlSiMCM-41>FeSiMCM-41>LaSiMCM-41SiMCM-41 and can be explained by the studies of existing states of trivalent atoms in these samples reported in previous work. Since some NH3-TPD plots of these samples show the profiles that could not be back to baseline at elevated temperature, the technique of microcalorimetric adsorption is preferable in studying these samples.

This paper reports the study of hydrogen and carbon monoxide produced by radiation degradation of N, N-dimethylhydroxylamine
(DMHA). The results show that when the concentration of DMHA is between 0.1M–0.5M and the dose is between 10–1000 kGy, the
volume fraction of hydrogen is very high and increases with the dose. The volume fraction of hydrogen is little dependent
on the concentration of DMHA at lower dose but increases with increasing concentration of DMHA at higher dose. The volume
fraction of carbon monoxide is very low.

N,N-dimethylhydroxylamine (DMHA) is a novel salt-free reducing reagent used in the separation U from Pu and Np in the reprocessing
of power spent fuel. This paper reports on the radiolysis of aqueous DMHA solution and its radiolytic liquid organics. Results
show that the main organics in irradiated DMHA solution are N-methyl hydroxylamine, formaldehyde and formic acid. The analysis
of DMHA and N-methyl hydroxylamine were performed by gas chromatography, and that of formaldehyde was performed by ultraviolet–visible
spectrophotometry. The analysis of formic acid was performed by ion chromatography. For 0.1–0.5 mol L−1 DMHA irradiated to 5–25 kGy, the residual DMHA concentration is (0.07–0.47) mol L−1, the degradation rate of DMHA at 25 kGy is 10.1–30.1%. The concentrations of N-methylhydroxylamine, formaldehyde and formic acid are (8.25–19.36) × 10−3, (4.20–36.36) × 10−3 and (1.35–10.9) × 10−4 mol L−1, respectively. The residual DMHA concentration decreases with the increasing dose. The concentrations of N-methylhydroxylamine and formaldehyde increase with the dose and initial DMHA concentration, and that of formic acid increases
with the dose, but the relationship between the concentration of formic acid and initial DMHA concentration is not obvious.

Thinopyrum intermedium, which has many useful traits, is valuable for wheat breeding. A new wheat-Thinopyrum addition line, SN100109, was developed from the progeny of common wheat cultivar Yannong 15 and Th. intermedium. It was resistant to most races of Blumeria graminis f. sp tritici (Bgt), which caused powdery mildew in wheat, and its reactions were different from the reactions of gene Pm40 and Pm43. Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) and molecular marker analysis were used to identify the genomic composition of SN100109. GISH results showed that SN100109 was a wheat-Th. intermedium disomic addition line containing one pair of J chromosomes, and the resistance gene was located on the alien additional chromosomes of SN100109. And four molecular markers BE425942, BF482714, Xgdm93 and BV679214 which were assigned to homologous group 2, were specific molecular markers of the additional chromosomes. All the results indicated that SN100109 contained one pair of 2J chromosomes. SN100109 can be used as a novel germplasm source for introducing powdery mildew resistance genes to wheat in breeding programs.
