Seven species of the family Tetranychidae and five species of the family Tenuipalpidae are listed from Hungary. Several new occurrences from all areas of Hungary are given with notes to the host plants. New drawings and scanning micrographs of the seven species are represented and the new and already known occurrences of the rarely collected species are illustrated on maps.

The species Holaspina alstoni (Evans, 1956) from the family Parholaspididae Evans, 1956 was collected in the soils of three different Hungarian greenhouses. This is the first record of this family, the genus and the species in Hungary. A new key to the European parholaspidid mites is presented.

Three specimens of invasive pest mite, Brevipalpus californicus (Banks, 1904) were collected on leaves of Dracaena marginata ʻTricolorʼ plant. The collected specimens belong to the Beard et al. (2015) “species B group” on the basis of the morphology of prodorsal and opisthonothal pattern. A new key to the Hungarian Brevipalpus is given.

A new species (Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia)nagyi sp. nov.) of the rotundabaloghid mites is described based on females and male collected in bamboo leaf litter in Cameroon. The new species differs from the other Afrotropical rotundabaloghid mites in following character combination: female genital shield with long apical process, the setae v7 and v8 long and pilose, v6 long and smooth, v2 short and needle-like, female genital, dorsal and ventral shields are ornamented by irregular pits, sternal setae short and needle-like. This character combination is unknown within the African rotundabaloghids.

Numerous different agroecosystems (alfalfa, apple, cereals, oilseed rape, maize, sunflower fields and plantations, a pasture and a compost hill) were investigated on the basis of the soil dwelling mites in two parts of Hungary. Twenty-three species of Mesostigmata, 13 Oribatida, one Astigmata and one Prostigmata are listed from these specific ecosystems, of which nine species, Alliphis halleri (G. and R. Canestrini, 1881); Antennoseius avius Karg, 1976; Antennoseius pannonicus Willmann, 1951; Arctoseius eremitus (Berlese, 1918); Cheiroseius bryophilus Karg, 1969; Leioseius insignis (Hirschmann, 1963); Oppiella loksai (Schalk, 1966); Punctodendrolaelaps fimetarius (Karg, 1965); Rhodacarellus perspicuus Halaśkova, 1958 are new to the Hungarian fauna.

The first record of species Penthalodes ovalis (Dugès, 1834) in agricultural habitat is presented in this paper. This is also the first record of the occurrence and damages on grown plants. The variability of the morphology and new data on the biology are given as well.

The hypopi of the species Sancassania chelone Oudemans, 1916 were collected from four pest beetle species, namely Melolontha melolontha (Linnaeus, 1758); Melolontha hippocastani Fabricius, 1801; Holochelus aequinoctialis (Herbst, 1790) and Tropinota hirta Poda, 1761. The infestation rate was the highest in H. aequinoctialis (80%), while it was 50%, 28% and 13% in M. hippocastani, M. melolontha and T. hirta, respectively. The majority of the mites were found on wings in case of the two Melolontha species, in contrary, the mites were present on the abdomen of the H. aequinoctialis and T. hirta. Melolontha hippocastani Fabricius, 1801; Holochelus aequinoctialis (Herbst, 1790) and Tropinota hirta (Poda, 1761) are new host species of S. chelone.

A new species Nenteria lii sp. n. is described on the basis of adults and deutonymphs collected in bamboo (Phyllostachys sp.) leaf litters in Xinxiang (Henan Province, China). The new species is very similar to the species Nenteria japonensis Hiramatsu, 1979, but the apical process of the female genital shield rounded and smooth in the new taxon, but serrate in the previously described Japanese species. A new key to the Eastern-Palearctic Nenteria species is given. A list of the collected bamboo leaf litter associated mites is presented.

The pine pest, Cenopalpus lineola (Canestrini and Fanzago, 1876) was discovered after 45 years again in Hungary. Proto-, deutonymphs, male and female specimens were collected, therefore a new and detailed re-description are presented with description of the leg chaetotaxy of the immature stages.

Two invasive spider mite species (Stigmaeopsis nanjingensis Ma and Yuan, 1980 and Schizotetranychus bambusae Reck, 1941) were spotted on bamboo collections in Hungary. The possibilities of biological control were investigated on these mites with two different predatory mite species (Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot, 1957 and Hypoaspis miles Berlese, 1892 [Stratiolaelaps scimitus Womersley, 1956]). The species Phytoseiulus persimilis consumed larger amount of S. bambusae mites than Stratiolaelaps scimitus mites and none of the predatory mite species could consume the S. nanjingensis species with its special nets.
