Summary
The paper summarizes the hypotheses and the observations about the shape and the origin of the different parts of the crown. Following the description of the irregularities of the placement of enamelled plates on the Byzantine crown, observations concerning the cruciform, curved shape of the corona latina are enumerated as well as hypotheses about its original destination (reliquary or asteriskos).
The study presents the pottery finds from a pit uncovered under the eastern wing of the monastery excavated at Esztergom-Prímás-sziget, dated by a coin of András I (1046–1060).
