The Middle Persian Deeds of Ardakhšēr Son of Pābag (Kār-nāmag i Ardakhšēr i Pābagān) contains the story of Ardakhšēr, later the founder of the Sasanian dynasty. The author of this article analysed the judicial relevant data of the epic and compared them with the Zoroastrian customs and Sasanian jurisprudence. The contradictions found led him to doubt the legitimacy of the first Sasanian king.
This article analyzes the significance of the activity of the Presidential Commission for the Analysis of the Communist Dictatorship in Romania (PCACDR) and the impact of its report on the basis of which the communist regime was condemned as criminal and illegitimate. The author also situates the Romanian case within the larger discussions on the role of overcoming a traumatic past in post-authoritarian democracies. PCADCR rejected outright the practices of institutionalized forgetfulness and generated a national debate about long-denied and occulted moments of the past. The Commission’s Final Report answered a fundamental necessity, characteristic of the post-authoritarian world, that of moral clarity. It set the ground for the revolutionizing of the normative foundations of the communal history, imposing the necessary moral criteria of a democracy that wishes to militantly defend its values.
Nero a halála után néhány évvel ismét feltűnt a római politika színpadán, a birodalom keleti tartományaiban, mégpedig legalább kétszer. Az ál-Nerók tevékenységén túl más politikai kalandorok hasonló történetei is ismertek a római történetírásban. A tanulmány elemzi az ismert hasonmások történeteit, bemutatva a közös motívumokat. Továbbá megpróbál magyarázatot adni az ál-Nerók kísérleteire az adott történelmi kontextusban.
Contrarily to most traditional accounts on the foundation of the Republic, Dionysius describes the passage from the Tarquins’ monarchy to the Republic as a lawful constitutional reform, in which L. Junius Brutus played a pivotal role. In my paper I analyze the speech that Brutus delivers to the Roman patricians to endorse the establishment of a new government in Rome. The new constitution, although remaining essentially monarchical, will keep its autocratic nature concealed from the people. Throughout this paper, I show how Dionysius in his presentation of Brutus picked up elements both related to the senatorial propaganda against M. Junius Brutus — Caesar’s murderer, who claimed descent from L. Brutus and the tyrannicide Ahala — and, at the same time, the character of Augustus’s newly-founded government. This account may thus be regarded as Dionysius’ own elaboration of Augustus’s constitutional reform.

This paper introduces how the colonial intervention in Korea by Japan – another Asian nation – has changed and formed the discussion about art and art history in Korea, and shows the impact of this colonial scholarship on recent studies in Korean art history. If we look at art histories written during the Colonial Period (1910–1945) we can trace several different attitudes. The Japanese funding and organization of many important archeological excavations on the territory of Korea was used to advance the legitimacy and of control over the peninsula, which was quite different from the efforts of Koreans to invent their own histories. The Japanese interest in Korean folk culture is also an important aspect of writing about Korean art and its impact and influence is still present in contemporary Korea.
Megjelölésükre a Keszthely-kultúra korai szakasza a megfelelő elnevezés. A késői szakasz a korai szerves folytatása.
The concept of the Keszthely culture has changed significantly over the past 130 years. The legitimacy of the early phase dated between 568 and 630–650 has been challenged by some scholars. By reviewing eleven sites of the culture’s early phase, this study seeks to demonstrate that in addition to surviving late antique elements, the Christian population that lived in the Keszthely area and enjoyed a relative measure of independence was predominantly made up eastern Alpine, Dalmatian, Balkanic and Germanic immigrants. The label “early phase of the Keszthely culture” seems an adequate term for their description. The culture’s late phase is an organic continuation of the early one.
