Prime-representing functions

Abstract  

We construct prime-representing functions. In particular we show that there exist real numbers α > 1 such that ⌈α 2 n⌉ is prime for all n ∈ ℕ. Indeed the set consisting of such numbers α has the cardinality of the continuum.

is the prime factorization of n. We show that the sequence {G(n)/n}n≧1, where G(n) = Πν=1 n I(ν)1/n, is convergent; this answers a question of Panaitopol. We also establish asymptotic formulas for averages of the function I(n).
