Abstract  

The high spin level structure of 73As nucleus is studied by populating the nucleus in 64Ni(12C,p2n)73As reaction. Level scheme is revised significantly. Positive parity sequence is extended up to 33/2+ and a negative parity side band is identified and extended up to high spins 37/2. In addition about 15 new energy levels and a total of about 25 new gamma transitions were placed in the level scheme.

Abstract  

The ratio of the probabilities of population of the isomeric and ground states, so called the isomeric ratio is closely connected to the angular momentum of the initial fission fragments that is dissipated at the later stages of gamma ray cascade. This ratio also provides important information on the nuclear level structure as well as the nuclear reaction mechanism involved. In this work, the isomeric ratio in fission fragment 135Xe from photofission of 233U induced by 23.5 MeV bremsstrahlung has been determined by the method that uses inert gaseous flow. The results have been discussed and compared with that of other authors.

Abstract  

The ammonium ion in the alkali halide lattice has the hindered rotational state. The rotational potential is expressed as crystal field, which depends upon only one rotational motion. The tetrahedral ion receives an octahedral field in this system. Four fundamental types of orientation appear due to the symmetry of ion and that of field. As the barrier height increases, the rotational levels approach to the librational levels with tunnel splitting. In particular, the tunneling part in the ground librational level is calculated using both free rotor bases and orientationally localized states. The level structure with the degeneracy is elucidated, which is peculiar in each type of orientation. Thermal properties are shown as model calculations.

Abstract

This paper tests the generalized Trivers Willard hypothesis in the spirit of Kanazawa (2005), which predicts that parents with heritable traits that increase the relative reproductive success of males compared to females will have relatively more male than female offspring. We test whether taller mothers are more likely to have a male first-born using data on 400,302 mothers in a sample of Demographic Health and Surveys (DHS) from 46 developing countries. Despite using a plethora of statistical models that take into account the multi-level structure of the data, we find no strong evidence in favor of the hypothesis between and within communities, as well as on a country-by-country basis. Conversely, Andrews (1989)'s inverse power calculations suggest that the absence of a statistically small effect cannot be rejected.

Az új betegségbesorolási rendszer struktúrájában követi a Betegségek Nemzetközi Osztályozása 10. kiadásának felépítését, ugyanakkor lényegesen részletesebb, több szempontot tartalmazó entitásokat határoz meg, mint az. A fejlesztés során törekszenek arra, hogy a 11. kiadás definícióit összehangolják más informatikai rendszerek kódjaival. Mindez a jelenleginél sokkal nagyobb mennyiségű klinikai információ statisztikai célú feldolgozását teszi majd lehetővé, ugyanakkor összetettsége miatt a fejlesztési folyamat sok nehézségbe is ütközik. Cryogenic heat-capacity determinations provide a useful tool for the determination of the energetic spectrum of condensed phases and also reveal information on their discrete electronic level structures as well. We have been interested in applying these techniques to actinide elements and have in recent months been working up the techniques to unravel the corresponding data for the lanthanide compounds—where opposite trends in cationic masses and molar volumes provide an opportunity to test theories useful for the resolution of excess heat capacity from lattice contributions.
