. This unit is called the Board of Directors. Modern corporate governance theory is based on the seminal study of Jensen and Meckling (1976) that forms the foundation of the agency theory. In practice, two fundamental corporate governance models can be
The paper describes a cartonnage mummy-board
discovered during the excavation of TT -61-. In addition to an analysis
of the find context and the texts written on the board, it gives a detailed
discussion of the painted designs, showing that mummy-boards with reticulate
pattern composition already appeared in the Twentieth Dynasty. It is also
argued that this kind of decoration was to express the substantial identity of
the deceased with Osiris.
Recycling of wastepaper has been shown to increase the concentration of metals in the product. Although it is generally assumed that there is no risk of migration of chemical contaminants from recycled paper and board into food, the UK Food Standards Agency has identified limited evidence of such migration. Therefore, it is important to carry out research to establish the concentration of metals in recycled paper and board in contact with food. A previous study at Imperial College had resulted in the development of a neutron activation analysis method to determine trace metals in plastic packaging. This paper describes an initial study to establish whether the same methodology could be applied to paper and board and to carry out a preliminary investigation into a small range of recycled paper and board products. The study was made on 22 elements in 17 products including pizza boxes, fries boxes, kitchen towel, table napkins, greaseproof paper, tea bags and cake cases. This work has shown elevated levels of some elements including barium (69 mg/kg in pizza bases) and chromium (5 mg/kg in napkins, 50 mg/kg in greaseproof paper, 2 mg/kg in cake cases, 90 mg/kg in baking parchment, 5 mg/kg in fries boxes and 5 mg/kg in pizza bases).
Three measures of international composition on journal editorial boards - the number of countries represented on the board,
the number of international members, and the proportion of international board members - were correlated with impact factor
and total citation data in the 1999 Journal Citation Reportsfor 153 business, political science, and genetics journals. With a few exceptions the relationship between international editorial
board composition and citation measures was non-linear, leading to the conclusion that international membership on the editorial
board can not generally be used as a marker of better journal quality. Yet further investigation is warranted due to positive
correlations between some editorial board and citation measures for non-U.S. business and political science journals.
Következtetések: A Szakértői Testület eddigi tevékenysége alapján megfelelően tölti be a neki szánt fontos szerepet. Orv. Hetil., 2010, 151, 2067–2071.
Tourism became the world’s first industry in the last decades of the 20th century. In this paper we examine the features of Spanish info-promotional materials, i.e. the official tourist brochures whose aim is to attract visitors and provide them with adequate information, as well as their English versions. We will assess four texts published by the Tourist Board of the Autonomous Government of the Principality of Asturias, in Northern Spain. The paper will examine the features (situational, interpersonal, ideational and textual) of the Spanish texts from a functional perspective, in an attempt to explore whether the information included is relevant for the communicative purposes of the texts. The next section will discuss the English translations, with particular reference to grammatical conventions, proper names and lexical choices. In the final discussion, we present some of the shortcomings of the texts and the problems deriving from certain cultural assumptions and linguistic choices. The paper concludes with some remarks about the need to involve specialists from various fields in the production of this type of materials.
This article reports findings from a study of the relationship between citation measures (impact factor and its quartile)
among international composition of editorial board and foreign authorship in 17 Korean SCI journals for the three 5-year periods,
1995, 2000, and 2005. With few exceptions, the relationship between international editorial board composition and foreign
authorship and citation measures was non-existent, at p > 0.05. However, the international members on editorial boards and foreign authorship of papers in Korean journals have increased
greatly over the three 5-year periods, and there has been to a certain degree growth in the visibility and performance of
Korean SCI journals in terms of impact factors, but not their quartiles.
