Summary This article provides a glimpse of some of the highlights of the joint work of Endre Csáki and Pál Révész since 1979. The topics of this short exploration of the rich stochastic milieu of this inspiring collaboration revolve around Brownian motion, random walks and their long excursions, local times and additive functionals, iterated processes, almost sure local and global central limit theorems, integral functionals of geometric stochastic processes, favourite sites--favourite values and jump sizes for random walk and Brownian motion, random walking in a random scenery, and large void zones and occupation times for coalescing random walks.
This paper makes the assumption that Norwegian patenting in the US reflects a quasi-universe of Norwegian technological capabilities. Based on this assumption, the paper combines a "patent-bibliometrics" and a "technometrics" approach to study other relevant bodies of knowledge these capabilities build upon. In order to study interactions at the "science-technology-innovation interface", the paper maps the citation patterns that radiate from the patent population (1990–96) to other areas of technology (patent-citations) and to science-bases (citations to Non-Patent Literature or NPL). The study identifies important technology-technology links that involve machinery, process-engineering and chemical and significant science-technology links that involve pharmaceuticals and instruments.

This article examines the 1885 excursion of the Austrian Architects’ and Engineers’ Society to Budapest to visit the Hungarian National General Exhibition and see Budapest. By examining the structures shown and the rhetoric surrounding them, it analyses the strategies employed by the Hungarian Architects’ and Engineers’ Society in presenting Budapest and its architecture. By focusing on technology, a neutral topic, the Hungarian hosts were able to celebrate Hungarian architecture and urbanism while avoid any nationalist rhetoric which might offend their Austrian colleagues.
