A major affektív kórképek diagnosztizálásában, a prognózis megállapításában és a terápiás válasz előrejelzésében egyaránt nagy klinikai jelentőségűvé vált az affektív temperamentumok vizsgálatára kifejlesztett, 2005-ben publikált önjellemző kérdőív (Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, Paris, and San Diego Autoquestionnaire [TEMPS-A]). Az életkor során stabilan megmaradó temperamentumok azonban nemcsak betegségre hajlamosító, hanem az egyes kultúrák jellegzetességét megőrző pozitív tulajdonságokat is hordoznak magukban. Az önjellemző kérdőívvel végzett, dinamikusan fejlődő kutatások eredményeként pedig a pszichiátriai határterületek és a nem pszichiátriai betegségek háttere is vizsgálhatóvá válik, új értelmet adva a pszichoszomatikus betegség fogalmának. Összefoglaló közleményükben a szerzők áttekintik az affektív temperamentumok neurobiológiai hátterét és klinikai vonatkozásait, kitekintve a kutatás jövőbeli irányvonalaira. Orv.
